Yes, it is. Its "Twitter". The Global Language Monitor, a company that collects and analyzes language trend information on the web, ruled that the word "Twitter" is the most popular word this year. Bing, the search Microsoft's search engine, ranks Twitter as the second most searched word for this year.
Last year's most popular word was "change" which is linked to Barack Obama's mantra for his good governance. As for phrase, it would be "King of Pop" while Barack Obama is the most searched name on the Internet. From here, we can see just how word-usage is changing the landscape of social media and how we effectively communicate information. Kudos to Twitter for their success!
